California Continued.

Well carrying on from last weeks post we got as far as the state line at Tennessee crossing into Arkansas.  The thing that had struck me so far on this trip was how the weather could suddenly change from bright sunshine to torrential rain and thunderstorms. The only benefit to this is you can see the storms from many miles away. Watching the lightning in the distance was something else.

A very wet welcome to Arkansas but look at the photo below

This was taken 5 mins later.

An all you can eat KFC buffet, You would never get me and my family out!
Sit back, cruise control on, relax and enjoy the views.

After a uneventful drive through Arkansas I crossed over into Oklahoma, It was a strange feeling driving along at a steady 65mph and being one of the slowest trucks on the road. the speed limits through here are 70mph and these boys got them opened up to do that.

The guys on the side were having photos with the state sign.

Glad I took this as I could not remember the name of the lake.

Just about to cross into New Mexico.
Time for food,  next instalment. New Mexico, Arizona and then into California.
Hello Again, Sorry its been a while since I last updated this blog, been kinda busy, anyway bit of that later.

New Mexico.

Now this is a state that if you dont have a permit for charge for crossing their state.  So after parting with $60.00 off I head west into the desert.  New Mexico is a strange state in terms of terrain, there are miles of flat desert landscape then you come upon a hilly area which I have to say is quite spectacular.  I have to admit that when I was growing up as a kid I would watch the old cowboy movies and always think how I would love to see the countryside for myself and to look up at the lonely cloud in a clear blue sky. Well the following few days allowed me to do that.

You expect to see cowboys and indians at any moment.

Endless stretches of highway as far as the eye can see

Flatland gives way to rocky hills.
So onward we go towards Arizona.

Well arizona was very nice warm and sunny, An interesting mixture of landscape then it was on to journeys end California.
Now you would have thought that with all its money and prestige California would be all Razzle Dazzle and I was expecting a big flashy welcome to California, boy was i dissapointed, this is how they welcome you from Arizona.

This set the tone for the whole run through California, very dissapointing.  Very poor roads, some very nice scenery though. the San Bernadito valley was quite spectacular

Bit warm down here!

From the valley it was into LA.
